Part of getting the home of your dreams is having the ability to visualize things not as they are but as you wish them to be.

Take these wonderful Ballard Designs Beauclaire planters. The height, depth, and style were exactly what I wanted; the color was a different issue. The gold color is beautiful and sunny, but for the location I wanted to place them it would have been too "loud". Ballard Designs offers a black version, but it was too glossy. I wanted the planters to have a worn look from years of use. So, I decided to use my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite (a gray/black/slightly blue color) and seal it with a matte polyurethane coating.

Aren't they lovely? I love the old world charm the paint gives them.
